Shavuot (Festival of Weeks)

Start: 11th Jun 2024

Duration: 2 days

Shavuot is a Jewish festival celebrated 50 days, around 7 weeks, after the first day of Passover. It is a period of commemoration to remember the day that God provided the Torah to His people on Mount Sinai. Shavuot is also known to be a Harvest Festival, as a former tradition was for Jewish people to bring Bikkurim (the first and finest fruits) to the Temple in Jerusalem as a gift to God.

Translated into English, Shavuot means “weeks”. This is to reference the end of the 7 week period between Passover and Shavuot, which is called Omer.
