Physical Education

HPS PE Curriculum Aims

  • We provide a high-quality physical education curriculum that inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sports and other physically demanding activities.
  • Children are provided with opportunities to become physically confident in a way that supports their health and fitness.
  • Opportunities to compete in sports and other activities build character and help to embed values such as sportsmanship, fairness and respect.
  • Specialist PE teachers deliver all PE lessons throughout the academic year.

At HPS, our planning is based on a range of learning objectives that support a skill-based curriculum. This aims to develop skills and knowledge through various activities and exposure to different sports. The intent is to make all our children gain a love of sport, exercise and an awareness of how to live an active and healthy lifestyle.

We aim to provide an attitude of ‘there is something out there for everyone’ through multiple games and sporting activities inside and outside school. We aim to develop confident, successful and independent learners who can solve problems and actively experience sporting competition through local, national and Independent Schools Association Sports competitions and activities. Through PE and competition, values such as sportsmanship, fair play, and right and wrong
